Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how OddsReference, an independent publication ("we" or "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit oddsreference.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Automatically Collected Data

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect:

  • IP address (anonymized where possible)
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages visited, time spent, and referring URLs
  • Interaction data (clicks, scroll depth) via analytics tools
  • A generated session identifier, used to attribute an outbound platform link click (see "Click Tracking" below) back to the page and session that produced it — not to a personal identity

Click Tracking (Deeplinks)

When you click a link from our dashboard to an external platform (e.g. "View on Polymarket"), the link routes through our own redirect endpoint before sending you to the platform. We log the market, the platform, a session identifier, and a timestamp for this event so we can measure which pages and markets drive outbound traffic. This log does not contain your name, email, or account details unless you are logged in to an OddsReference account at the time (see "Accounts" below). Today these redirects are plain, untracked links to the platform — no affiliate parameter is attached, because we do not yet have any active affiliate partnership. If and when a redirect does carry an affiliate parameter, that will be disclosed on the relevant platform's affiliate-partner listing (see Affiliate Disclosure).

Accounts (Paper Trading)

Our paper trading simulator lets you create an account to track simulated (play-money) trades. Creating an account collects your email address and a password. Passwords are never stored in plain text — we store a one-way bcrypt hash, which cannot be reversed to recover your original password. Paper trading account data (email, hashed password, trade history) is used solely to operate that feature and is not shared with affiliate partners.

API Keys

If you request programmatic access to our data API, we issue and store an API key associated with your request (and, if provided, your email address) so we can authenticate requests and enforce rate limits. We log API usage (endpoint, timestamp, response status) for abuse prevention and reliability monitoring.

Information You Provide

If you contact us via email, we collect the information you voluntarily provide, including your email address and message content. Account creation (for paper trading or API access) is optional — the core dashboard and content library do not require an account.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

Essential Cookies

Required for basic site functionality, such as maintaining your session state and preferences.

Analytics Cookies

We use analytics services to understand how visitors interact with the Site. These cookies collect aggregate, anonymized data about page views, traffic sources, and user behavior.

Third-Party Affiliate Tracking Cookies

We do not currently have any active affiliate partnerships, so no affiliate tracking cookies are set by our Site today. This section describes how that will work once partnerships are established, so this policy stays accurate without needing a rewrite the day a partnership goes live.

When you click a link to a partner platform and a partnership is active, the destination platform (not OddsReference) may set its own cookies to attribute your visit to us, using industry-standard affiliate tracking networks. Those cookies are governed by the partner's privacy policy, not ours — we do not control data collected after you leave our Site. The current, always-up-to-date list of any active partners is maintained on our Affiliate Disclosure page rather than duplicated here.

Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Disabling cookies may affect certain site functionality but will not prevent you from accessing our content or analytics dashboard.

How We Use Your Information

  • Operate and improve the Site and our analytics dashboard
  • Analyze aggregate traffic patterns and user behavior
  • Respond to inquiries you send us
  • Detect and prevent abuse or unauthorized access
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

Data Sharing

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Infrastructure providers: Hosting and CDN (Vercel, Cloudflare), our application database and cache (PostgreSQL and Redis, self-managed), and Railway (backend hosting).
  • Error monitoring: We use Sentry to capture application errors (stack traces, request metadata) so we can fix bugs. Sentry may incidentally process technical data associated with a failed request; we do not deliberately send it personal profile data.
  • Analytics tools: Aggregate, anonymized traffic and usage data.
  • Affiliate partners: Only if and when a partnership is active — see "Third-Party Affiliate Tracking Cookies" above.
  • Legal compliance: When required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights.

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or advertisers.

Data Retention

Analytics data is retained in aggregate form. Contact email correspondence is retained for up to 24 months unless you request deletion. Deeplink click logs and API usage logs are retained for operational and abuse-prevention purposes. Paper trading account data is retained until you request account deletion. Affiliate tracking cookie duration, if and when partnerships are active, varies by partner (typically 30-90 days).

GDPR Rights (EU/EEA Visitors)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@oddsreference.com. We will respond within 30 days.

CCPA Rights (California Residents)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
  • Non-discrimination for exercising CCPA rights

To submit a CCPA request, email contact@oddsreference.com with the subject "CCPA Request."

Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 years of age. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, contact us immediately.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption, access controls, and secure hosting infrastructure. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
